Olympics : It’s not over ’til it’s over

Our family has been enjoying watching the Olympics together over the last several days.  I think one of the beautiful things that the Olympics pictures for us is the international nature of the Kingdom of God.  Revelation 7:9 describes the apostle John’s vision of this in heaven : “After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.”  One day, all the nations will gather not to compete for national pride, but to lay down their crowns before the one who has triumphed over sin and death : Jesus Christ!

One of the problems with watching the Olympics, though, is that we haven’t been able to put our kids to sleep until after Michael Phelps races because the results have been so exciting (and loud)…

Yeah that was pretty amazing. It’s as if it was scripted. How about USA basketball? have you watched any games? I never thought I would be into the olympics, but it’s a lot of fun to watch. even the horse trotting event was exciting. did you know speed walking is an olympic sport?
